What is scarier is that half the doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class. But I bet some of those are better than the upper half.
In doing family research, I found that a great great uncle just decided to stop being a small town merchant in Okawville, IL and to become a doctor without attending school. The state of Illinois caught up with him and told him to stop unless he could pass the exam. Surprisingly he passed. Additionally, four out of five of his sons became doctors of which three practiced in the Okawville area and the other son in Missouri and Oklahoma.
