Thanks to all for the suggestions. The local auto electric shop was closed today, so I will check tomorrow. I'm sure he will be able to answer this, but I would appreciate input from you guys if you have any.
There is a fairly large wire running to and through the amp gauge. Is it likely that I will blow the gauge by running 100-130 amps through it, since it was probably designed for the wimpy alternator?
