I bought one of those POS tach's brand new a few years back. After about 6 months or so, it took a big poop. Sent it back for repair and after the repair, it was never accurate again. Paid $100 new for it, so I guess you get what you pay for. So much for an American made product. I have since purchased vintage Sun aircraft type 6 volt tach along with the 6volt transmitter. Will be installing it on the steering post. According to a 1946 Dodge pamphlet I just read about tachometers , they say for the best lubrication, economy and engine life, the motor should be run at between 1200 to 2800 RPM's for a fully loaded truck. It did not state what size motor they were talking about. Food for thought.
