We do have a lot around here. I always get a smile when someone out west talks about how stringy doug fir is. They would die to work with elm or wet sycamore. Curly grain beech won't even let you start a wedge, you have to plunge cut a slot to keep it from bouncing out. that is why Hydraulics are in so much demand here.
