The NV4500 is a great trans but it has its own set of quirks. In some respects I wish I had gone the ZF 6spd route but am not sure how viable that would be either.
If your 5spd is strong enough to handle the torque you then need to figure out what it will cost to hook it up to the 4bt.
The Dodge NV4500 has the starter on the drivers side. Depending what steering box you use things can be tight on that side. The Chevy has the starter on the passenger side which may be a plus.
If you managed to buy a NV4500 with all the parts between the trans and the Cummins (Dodge) the swap is pretty simple.
