Believe it! Those 41" tires will most assuredly bring the engine RPMs down. To go with taller gears would burden your driveline at its weakest point,most likely the axle shafts. The clutch would likely suffer from 41"tires and 4.89 gears. The heavier 3/4 ton ring gear would lessen the stress at that point but the axle shafts would still be at risk of being easily twisted with 41" tires on the 1/2 ton axle.
