I've seen Colby's '47. It is a nice looking WD-20 and the dual wheels are the same. Either rim can be used on the inside of the rear axle. It's not a Budd set-up. Both rims are held by a single nut.
A '47 WDX equipped with 7.50 x 16 tires has 5.5 inch rims. Their offset is adequate for using either rim on the inside of the rear axle.
Your comments are correct for using dual 9.00 x 16 tires on the correct 6.5 inch rims on a Power Wagon.
