Howdy Ed,
It sounds like it's time to put on those disc brakes!!
There is a thin paper gasket between the carrier and the housing. You could try and snug up the bolts that fasten the two together. Otherwise, it involves pulling the hubs apart and removeing the axle shafts far enough to allow the carrier to drop free.
I'd suggest just keeping an eye on the fluid and run it till you're ready to do the brake thing. These trucks love to mark their territory ( ha! ha! ).
