I see discs with better cooling on the front axle. That is the nearer one in the pic, with wider vanes.
Discs have 2 advantages:
1) cooling, because heat is only generated in part of the travel, pluse the vanes to aid circulation. Ever gotten drums so hot they don't work? "Glazed brakes" is the name, but could be melted friction material or fluid turning to steam. Learn to pump your brakes on long downhills.
2) self cleaning, they wipe water and mud off- ever had wet drums?
