granted this one has probably at least 350K to 500 k in a D300 that was a dump truck most its life. But, out 8 or so D/W300s I have had 3 had rear or front diff issues. Out of the 20 or so WCs and PWs I have had, one had issues and it was only worn out thrust washers under the side gears. the axles in the 70 are a bit stronger but if I had to pick a set up to cross Siberia in I would choose the Chrysler 9 5/8 every time. no way the pinion will break and no way the carrier bearings can fail so easily.
The high mileage one in pic is what I pulled out of my current D300. I put another one I had in without looking inside and was making noise. Pulled cover yesterday and drivers side carrier bearing toasted.
