The crane has been quite adequate for me, although I would love to have a real hydraulic one with hydraulic rotation as well as lifting.
I added a Superwinch in place of the hand crank. To the Superwinch I adapted a wireless remote.
I broke it right away by pulling too much weight at an angle. So I reinforced the base to not let that happen again.
I have to position the truck so that I can rotate the load into or out of the truck without gravity working against me. It has a handle that swings out from the post to let you turn it, but if the load is really heavy it can be a job to rotate it.
There are much nicer units out there, all hydraulic, with greater capacity, but I can't justify the kind of money they get for them.
Basically it's very handy and quite easy to use, if I plan ahead. But without the electric winch upgrade it would be very awkward to use.
