Hi Ron
Well, I can't keep up with Kevin, since I only have 2 Stihls, but the one in the picture is an 045 that I purchased in 1974. My wife was due to have our third child, (2nd son), and my partner and I were driving every day 3 hours to build a pole barn. The old saw I had gave out so I bought this one on the way home one day. It has cut many cords of firewood, as well as house beams and logs.
A funny story: a friend went with me to cut firewood and he was so impressed with how that 045 cut that he went and bought one. This guy was a north Idaho native. He had worked in the woods for a few years, doing various logging and firewood jobs. The first time he brought the saw I went up a slope and cut down a big buckskin tamarack and was cutting it up. After 20 or 30 minutes I turned the saw off to see what Curt was doing. He couldn't get the new saw started. I went down to help. My saw always started on the 3rd pull when cold, 1st pull when warm. After pulling the cord 15 or 20 times I checked to see if he had gas (which he assured me he did). He had put bar oil in the fuel tank and gas in the oil tank. So after a few digs about me being from Calif., and him from Idaho, we got the fuel in the right place and away we went.
That was 40 years ago and I still kid him about it. :)
