here is a picture of the fork. With your foot off the clutch it is at least 3/4" from the throw out bearing.

Do you recall if the arm on the clutch shaft is keyed in addition to having the bolt in the bottom to index it?

It does not appear you can put it on the wrong way, it will interfere with other stuff. So my bolt screws in from the front of the truck,m the threaded part of the arm is towards the rear.
