Vehicle is a 66 TWPW with the standard sloppy original Saginaw box......I Finally decided to go ahead and spend the money for a steering box rebuild... Sent it to Ca. to a shop that exclusively deals in steering box rebuilds ( so I assume their work is spot on....They said it would arrive ready to install....adjusted & full)...If I sit on the floor under truck and grab steering shaft by hand, where it attaches to steering box, and rotate right & left....measuring the rotation of the steering wheel right to left....I have 10" free play.....YES....10 inches....I thought maybe it got out of there without being adjusted so I tried to tighten a little....Wrong....besides sloppy...it was squirrely and scary.....anyone else have anywhere near that much play?...a little scary when combined with wide tires...This is only between the steering wheel and the box....No other front end parts are involved....even though they're all new also....
Any input???
Thanks to all in advance
