I have always enjoyed heavy equipment from the golden age of construction (40's-70's) climaxed with the construction of the interstate highway system. Those massive cable operated shovels (BE, Northwest, Lima, P&H and others) were terrific to watch loading haul trucks with shot rock in deep roadcuts. Fortunately the Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA) and their journal "Equipment Echos" is the place for preservation of these machines and memories of that industry. Anyone interested in HCEA drop me an email.
