Clint makes valid points. However, the cable anchor is NEVER supposed to receive any tension during winching. The anchor simply fastens the "fall line" of the cable, like the action of a capstan winch. That is why Braden rated the pull of the winch with X number of wraps of cable on the drum.
I do recommend using a copper ferrule on the end of the cable where it sits under the set screw. That will keep the cable from splaying out when the screw is run in.
