I have been on the this forum for between 15/16 years. In the beginning, Power Wagons were available, in reasonable condition for short money. Much like Chris Craft boats were available in the 60/70's for very short money. That has changed, even Gray Boats these days will easily command high 5 figure prices and nice restos easily command 6 figure prices. In my opinion Power Wagons now have entered this field.
There are niche companies that build Mall Cruisers, but thats a entirely game, they will never be seen off road. People that build nice/beautiful Power Wagons get change of interests, need money or whatever and the sale prices are documenting
their value. Original Power Wagons, unrestored, are sought after as many simply cant afford to buy a properly done resto with safety and power upgrades. In the not to distant future, these originals, now beautiful trucks will move into the higher price bracket in sales. Again pricing them out of reach of many. That leaves the Hospice Grade Power Wagons needing unbelievable work and funding to bring back from the arms of hospice and back on the road as beautiful Power Wagons , which will now move into the high value range.
So what happens now ? The Hospice Grade trucks, properly restored, will have great value. I believe that looking into the future, 15/16 years that I have been on the forum, we will see Hospice Grade trucks being all that is available at prices that most can afford. And the prices paid for Hospice Grade trucks will be unreal by todays standards. Given time, eventually, all Hospice Grade trucks will be gone. Then the only thing to buy is nice clean restored trucks commanding unreal prices, Same as Chris Craft boats. I truly believe that buying a clean restorable or restored Power Wagon now........is truly the right time to buy. The same thing is happening to C1,C2 and C3 Corvettes. And C4's are waiting in the shadows for their time.
