Photo taken in spring of 1980 in Sibley, Iowa. My '47 WDX loaded up on a trailer to make its trip to its new home in Illinois. Winch and a lot of other parts are in the pickup box. I bought it from the third owner. It had been in storage pretty much since 1966 or so. Today, this remains my main Power-Wagon.
We learned a few things on this 400 mile trip: Don't use a stock car hauler trailer. A trailer with trailer brakes would have been good thing. Don't load a Power-Wagon backwards on a trailer. Loading with more tongue weight would have been a good thing. Don't drive on the interstate, at night, at 45 mph. At least we were using a borrowed 3/4 ton extended cab Ford with a big block engine.
We all lived to tell about it.
