The motor is actually a 236 CI Desoto block. I had the machinist install the 241 Spitfire head to give me a higher compression ratio since the 241 head is bored at 3&3/8" and the 236 head is bored at 3&7/16". I raised the ratio just by changing heads. It was also very lightly planed so I'm hoping I get around an 8:1 ratio which I have on the 230 with the '57 Plymouth head I'm swapping out of he truck. The Tranny is out of a 1.5 ton Pilothouse truck. I changed out the main drive pinion gear using an NOS one used in the M-37 Trans. It has the handbrake mounting ears on the Trans. case cover. I still need to find the smaller brake drum and band. The case looks exactly like the early M-37 case. The main difference I think are the shifting forks in the trans cover. It bolts right up to the WC bellhousing. Don't think the parking brake set up from the WC trans. will interchange, the rear bearing retainer looks different. Hope things are going well with you.
