When you consider the types of little creatures that are attracted to a cool place with lots of water, and the other creatures that like to eat the first group, the cast iron lid sounds like a real good idea. :)
Sometimes I think I was born a century or so too late. I do remember crank phones, oak ice boxes, and NO TV. And when TV did come around, wrestling was the big attraction for my grandfather and me. :)
