Oh ya. I've seen them as high as 3450 running pumps.
But that's still less than 3600 max rpm for a healthy 230L6
Those old oil burners were great engines in there day, especially stationary units.
But they were dogs in highway use until they added the turbo. That with the original super charger really woke them up.
