I enclosed my fuel tank cap with a 6"x6"x6" hinged steel box. After installing the box I put a deflector made out of 1/8" steel plate on the tire side and bottom. This will keep the mud and ice from getting into the gas tank from a dirty cap. I bolted it to my Mud Flap bracket since the bed raises up but the tank does not.
