I am preparing to bite off the Cummins conversion for my "New" Suburban, the abysmal fuel mileage is even starting to get to my wife.
After a small refresh, I will be using the 5.9 out of my '01. The engine controls will be the least of my concern, but I am also going to keep the 47RE behind it and that is what i'm not finding much on. For you guys that have done this, I know I need to keep the PCM from my '01 but I want to keep the Chevy cluster (will change out to a diesel version) so I will be swapping over sensors and such, as well as changing out the tail section on the transfer case to use the GM speed sensor. Do I need a speed signal from the wheels for the transmission to shift properly, or is that handled by the sensors in the transmission. I will also be using the current GM alternator until I get my hands on a diesel version with the tach signal.
If it's all a pain, I will probably just modify the dash a little to accept the Dodge cluster.
