Interesting what my comment on the date stamp started. I was just letting people know so they could check into it further.
For me personally, I would look at the date code and the condition of the tire rubber, then make an offer based on that. If they are from the 90's I would really try to get a lower price. I have Michelins that are well over the 6 year mark. Neither have any checking or dry rot at all. Do I run them, yes. Do I keep a close eye on them yes. Do they get lots of miles, no.
I do not like the XLs as much as the XZLs as they are lumpy at low speeds and make lots of noise. They also seem to wear faster than thebXZLs. The XZLs are a much nicer tire I'm my opinion.
I have run Michelins on numerous cars and trucks. Never any issues at all. I get a minimum of 80+ K on truck tires (Suburban and Scouts) and have see 140k an a set of car tires. I like Marty live in a cooler and less sunny area so that helps on tire life.
