I towed my WDX on a 2000# steel car hauler from Michigan to the Iowa Rally this June and also last year. The Durango is a 5.9L with the 3.92 axle and HD trailer package. (Rated for about a 7,300# trailer by Dodge.) Mileage was 9.5-10 mpg at 65 mph per the overhead console readout.

Hitch is a 1000# equalizer with sway control. No problems but Michigan, Illinois and Iowa are all pretty flat.

Make sure the trailer has brakes on both axles and the electronic brake controller is set up correctly. Otherwise the loaded trailer will push the tow vechile right through a red light or stop sign!
