The vast majority of US army vehicles in Desert Storm were simply painted sand. Depending on the age of the paint, this could appear as a VERY tan color (newer vehicles), "chalky" tan (like clapboard siding gets chalky) or even faded tan with a slight pinkish due to the bleaching effect of the sun. The 24th Inf. Div's cavalry squadron had sand-colored vehicles with smaller brown areas and black borders between, but this wasn't a standard paint scheme. Most of the vehicles that came from Germany, and some from the states, were left solid green or woodland camouflage.
