I have a 41 wc-4 which has been converted to 12v negative ground and has a 57 230 instead of the stock 218. I still have the foot pedal starter, but I disabled the switch (I use a firewall mounted solenoid and ignition switch) and the foot pedal only engages the starter gear with the flywheel. Does anybody know if a later model(more conventional) starter will fit into the trans housing and engage the flywheel? I would like to put a more conventioanl starter in, one with a bendix or solenoid to engage the starter gear, So I can get rid of the foot pedal. Thanks.
