mopar heaters and non mopar

I have seen several dodge and plymouth vehicles with this style of heater. I comes under different names. My 52 Plymouth Cranbrook had one and my 48 WDX had the pictured one in it.Someone recently posted a PW firetruck that had one. I am currently restoring a Model 65 truck heater, mostly because it looked nice and i had a fan that worked for it. Before getting it, I found a couple of the non Mopar type. Anyone have more info on the history of these non mopar heaters?
