I suggest you download the Technical Reference from Fastenal. This document covers anything you will ever want to know about fasteners. Everyone should have a copy downloaded to reference.
In the Tech Reference, read the section on torque control. If you lube fasteners where the factory spec is for dry insertion and dry torque, you will over torque the fastener and maybe yield it or worse snap it off. The tech reference gives great information on dry and lubed and different plating versus torque. Even thread sealant will change the torque by quite a bit.
