Front spring hangers - adding bushings?

Hi all,

When replacing the front shackle pins/bushings is it customary to add bushings to the shackles (although these can be replaced) and/or the front spring - hangers on the frame? The hangers/shakles in my selection appear to be wallowed out a bit, and it would seem that just replacing the spring bushings and pins would only be half the problem (although a significant improvement since mine were paper thin at the bottom).

I was thinking that drilling the holes oversize (like to 7/8) and putting in an appropriate bushing would be a reasonable idea. Anyone done this? Is it a worthy endeavour?
