I posted about this before, but in the eastern half of the U.S. at least, carpenter bees are a scourge and will eat your wooden buildings as they make their tunnels.
These traps are great and almost no maintenance. I wish I had thought of them; the originator in Alabama has apparently sold his company to a firm in Wisconsin.
I have caught well over a hundred bees in the last 5 years and now I can say a rarely see them swarming around my machine shed anymore in the spring.
