2 types ksb, wax motor and solenoid. the ksb is used differently on different engines. 2010 earlier 4bts it is usually a wax motor type activated when water temp is about 160.
switch then sends power to ksb and timing retards about 6 degree. on the 89-93 it was used differently on the intercooled vs non-intercooled as well as how it was set up to function. usually solenoid type and sensor cuts out power when engine water temp is 90 degree. isb is another animal. either way many things get changed over the years on a used motor and you need to test the switch to see how it functions and then set it up the way you want it to function.
