Got it out. Drilled both ends a little smaller diameter and pried and finagled to get the remnants out. Luckily the part in the shaft was still aligned well enough to push out the rest with a punch and hammer. Took me 2 hours under the truck during and fairly warm day of 55 deg. Thanks for all the suggestions. Willy wins the prize.
