675 lbs. sounds heavy to me.
It is my understanding that a board foot ( 12" x 12" X 1" ) of steel weights 40 lbs.
Divide 16 into 40 equals 2.5 lbs. per square foot.
Therefore a square foot of 3/16" should weigh 2.5 x 3 = 7.5 lbs.
Therefore a 5' x 10' sheet ( 50 square feet ) of 3/16" steel should weigh 7.5 x 50 = 375 lbs.
OR
1" = 40 #
1/2 = 20 #
1/4 = 10 #
1/8 = 5 #
1/16 = 2.5 #
Or do the math as required. It works for me.
