I always miss the steel part too and smash the front of my foot. I have got a hot foot on a fire once and you can't get the boot off fast enough to do any good. I blouse my fire pants inside them incase of stepping in a stump hole to keep the hot stuff off my legs. I have gone up to my knee before and that hurts!! You only got a second or less to get it out before the damage happens!
