inline fuel filter in front of tank

any chance a inline filter would work between the fuel tank and mechanical fuel pump?
There isn't a good place for one on the 230 between the pump and carb if you were trying to keep things cool and avoid vapor lock. Hard to think about that this time of year but i remember having trouble with the power wagon when it was hot.
