I only use retreads on the rear (drivers), not the front (steering). Many of my retreads have quite a lot of weather-checking on the casings and have been patched a few times. I don't like having a front tire blow out while driving a heavy truck on the freeway in city traffic with no shoulder. It happened once and that's enough.
