I don't think that its our right to judge how or why anyone spends their dollars on their own transportation. But its fair to compare how a contractor, farmer, or service fleet owner today must make a well thought out decision before shelling out or financing the amount required for a well-equipped 1-ton truck to cover their needs with the same decision made by those workers who bought expensive new PW's throughout the 50's & 60's. Most PW's were bought to work and the ones of those that are left today certainly show it. Today's rare finds of non-worked PW's are treasures indeed and the stories of their histories are worth retelling.
