bowbender, The two original axle ratio gear options are 4.89 & 5.83. Swapping to 4.89's is a great way to increase maximum on-road speed, but the gear sets do not come cheap and the 5.83's are part of what make an old PW just what it is. Depending on how long you've been reading this Forum, you may recall that Greg Coffin in Loveland CO is working on the development of a bolt-on overdrive unit. That will be a future option.
