Guess I missed it last time around. Is the reason to spool up really long lengths of "pull" rope that a cable winch can't handle, like 200-300+ ft? We used to use a hydraulic cable winch mounted to the front of a 1T P/U when pulling 900pair telecom cable in 4" conduits with several 90s, but only for 100' max, and we usually still needed 4-5 guys with the winch (lots of gooey yellow soap).
