Hello Matt,
A couple of points. That Two speed transfer case was originally designed for and used in the WW II Dodge 6X6 W-62, W-63 1 1/2 ton. So spreading the torque was very appropriate. It is a very strong unit and was later carried on into the Power Wagon and the M-37 with the same stacked lever arraignment. The axles however are still the weak link in the drive line. A carry over from the older single speed 3/4 ton trucks.
Second thought. The combat rims though cool looking are really something of a bitch. They are very difficult to balance, too heavy, and load up with mud and water. That's why they are a real rust problem. The stock Budd split ring wheels 900X16 (6.50") (not to be confused with split rims or the 1/2 ton split rings wheels) are really much easier and safer to deal with. Having dismounted and mounted at least a couple of hundred of them for myself I will take the stock 900X16 (6.50") split ring over the combat every time. Leave those old combats for restored WW II trucks.
Enjoy your work....Jackson
