yes this is a way to gain a couple inches of lift, i have done this to my daily driver ford explorer with good results. its a really easy way to get 2" of lift without shelling out the cash for a kit. it will make the vehicle ride harder, personally im willing to trade ride quality for height, but make sure your friend understands that it will ride a bit harder.
