PTO - tranny question?

Can the chelsea PTO used on the NP420 tranny in the WM300's, be used on the NP435 tranny? If not, what unit is common and the least expensive to use on the NP435? Is the NP435 any better,not much better, or alot better tranny than the NP420? If so, why?
If not, why not just use a NP420 that came out of a V-8 powered truck so the original PTO could be used? I'm at a crossroad and need to know before I invest limited money on this project. Thanks
