Along the lines of what Yamamoto was quoted saying about the U.S., I believe that Winston Churchill said something similar.
If I can paraphrase, I believe he said that America was like a giant boiler. Slow to be lit and started, but once activated, having the capacity for enormous power. I think that is what Islamic radicals will discover. They are not students of history.
