Greetings,
My 1954 Flat Fender has the original flathead. It usually runs well, but today began having an idle issue.
While out for a short ride I noticed the engine would rev when the gas pedal was depressed, as it should. However, when I took my foot off the pedal the RPMS stayed as if I was still on the gas.
I took a minute to look at the engine with attention to the carb. I manually rev'd the engine and noticed if I did so slowly, the engine wanted to stall as if fuel starved. However, if I did so forcefully, the engine would rev and stay there, even after I let off of the linkage.
My thought is that the carb is the culprit causing the issues. Im thinking it may need a rebuild or replacement.
Any other ideas about what I should be looking for?
Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Mike
