Here is how I set timing on a engine. Go to top dead center, then advance your timing 10 degrees by the pointer. Hook up your timing light. Turn on your key, squeeze the trigger on you timing light. Look at the bulb on the timing light and rotate the distributer until the timing light flashes. Tighten the dist. and fire it up.
