i have a fairly rare stock car manifold that fits our 230 engines and takes a rectangle base 2bbl carb. it is nice that it is cast iron and it has the carb heat provision on the bottom. my plan is to use it on a 230 with shaved stock head, a cam upgrade and a split stock exhaust manifold. electronic distributor and one wire or 3 wire gm alternator. plans stopped since once i dialed in my stock command car engine, i have plenty of power and dont want to mess with what's working. two biggest improvements on a stock flathead. get your distributor and carb professionally rebuilt. john bizal did mine. bolted the rebuilts on and go. before the help, i had flat spots, overheated coils, low power low top end. if your motor is sound -i.e. good compression, the engine will sing with good fuel and spark!
