I was heading up the Gorge out of Portland Wed night and was surprised to find I-84 closed from Troutdale to The Dalles. The gas jockey told me there were mudslides and trees down and somebody had been killed when a tree fell on their car as they were driving. I figured the Washington side would be a non-stop line of semis crawling along the highway, but there was actually very little traffic on US-14. We were a few hours behind the storm so most of the trees and branches had been cleared already. I noticed rail traffic was stopped as well, which is a big deal because the tracks through the Gorge carry most of the rail traffic from the coast to points east, north of California. There was one DOT crew out using a snow plow to clear branches off the highway, so maybe you could hire out your plow truck for branch-clearing duty.
