I do use bait blocks and sometimes nail them down. Do not have them where a dog might get at them.
A red-neck mouse trap is a 2.5 gal or 5 gal bucket, drill a hole at the top on either side. Slide a wire through a plastic pop bottle and slather it with peanut butter, and then put water in the bucket and provide a ramp or means to get to the rim of the bucket.
