237 ? what is this on the end of the filter hose

and where does it go--came in one of the stock lines for the bypass and i put it on the same one it came off of but then i took it off and i don t remember where it goes

nothing like it on my 230

is it an external relief valve --could there be 2 valves one in the block and one in the line or is there not one in the block so they used this
